Some people were starving physically, many were starving spiritually. We delivered a bag of dry beans, a bag of rice, and a large tube of lard to cook with. The look on the face of the elderly woman as she reached through the fence to take hold of the welcomed food somehow made the pain of the rocky path and the retched humidity disappear. Her eyes and her smile said it all; we did not have to understand Spanish to understand “thank you”. We delivered food, but God taught my wife and I how to put our comfort here in the states aside and serve others out of love. We delivered the bread of life, the Gospel, the love of Jesus, the Son of the Most High God. It is because He first loved us that we desire to spread His love and grace wherever He would have us go.
