Susuli, Nicaragua 2007
The mission team traveled to the remote village of Susuli (SU-SU-Li) in the Matagalpa mountain region of Nicaragua. The message of salvation in Jesus Christ was given four times a day with each group of 300 people going through the evangelism services and children’s church prior to going in for their medical review. After the services, the people would line up in the Triage area to have their weight and blood pressure taken, then proceed to the Medical line for evaluation and treatment. Once they had been seen by one of the doctors, they received any necessary prescriptions before proceeding to the Dental and Optometry areas. Additionally, family portraits were taken prior to the evangelism services and each family received a gift of rice and beans and newborn packages for the new babies. Each night we topped off the day with a Tent Revival where approximately 300 people in attendance. The final night we were in the village we had over 400 people under the tent as the rain came down in buckets, but regardless of the downpours, God continued to work in the hearts of the villagers as we saw a number of individuals accept Christ as their personal Savior.
The trip was a phenomenal success because the love of Christ was being demonstrated through action. We received an added blessing by being able to witness 384 individuals professing their faith in Christ; however, we know there were countless others who continue to struggle with this all important decision. Our prayer is for the mature and new believers to continue to be discipled and grow in their faith and for those who heard the message of salvation but did not respond our prayer is that they would not delay their decision.
